The All Progressives Congress has distanced itself from the suit seeking an amendment of the Constitution to allow President Muhammadu Buhari run for a third term in office.
According to newsmen, this was made known in a statement issued yesterday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, describing those pursuing the third term agenda as “busybodies”, “charlatans”, “agent provocateurs”, and anti-democratic forces.
Recall earlier last week a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state, Charles Enya filed the suit (FHC/AI/CS/90/19) before a Federal High Court in Abakiliki. He alleged that the two-term tenure limit for presidents and governors was “discriminatory” when compared with the provision made for lawmakers in Nigeria.
The party National Publicity Secretary, Issa-Onilu said the APC would expel any member of the party, seeking an amendment of the constitution to allow President Buhari run for a third term in office.
