
A mysterious fire has gutted the popular Owode-Onirin market in Lagos, destroying over 30 shops.
The fire started at the metal section of the Owode-Onirin market and swiftly spread to other areas of the expansive market on Sunday, the Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA) Public Affairs Officer, Mr. Nosa Okunbor disclosed.
LASEMA coordinating the men of the Lagos State Fire Service team got a distress call made to the Lagos State Response Unit’s emergency numbers (767/112), and responded swiftly. The team battledthe raging fire and brought it under control.
About 30 shops were said to have been completely burnt down by the fire and the cause of the outbreak could not immediately be ascertained.
Responders confirmed that no lives were lost but so many property and goods destroyed were massive.
